Lee Roy Selmon has a tradition that blends family scholarship football and volunteer work in the community. First family he is the youngest of nine children of Lucious and Jessie Selmon. They grew up on a family farm near Eufala, Oklahoma. In football, he was with his three brothers for Oklahoma. All three were All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey & Lee Roy started for one season in 1973. Lee Roy won the Outland and Lombardi Awards as the nation's most effective lineman. Over the course of three seasons, Oklahoma was 32-1-1 with Roy as the starter. They also won two national championships. Selmon was a National Football Foundation Scholarship-Athlete, Selmon was awarded an award for his third year in 1975. Selmon obtained his master's degree in educational studies. Lee Roy dedicated ten volunteer hours per week during college. After graduation Lee Roy moved to Tampa where he spent 9 years with the Buccaneers. There were three times, he was selected All-Pro. Then he began his business career. In 1988, while working as an account representative at First Florida Bank of Tampa, he worked with Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. He was no surprise that, in 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy among the top ten outstanding young people across the country. While a student Lee Roy was 6-2 and weighs a little over 256 lbs. He coached his university team in the year 1975. He joined University of South Florida in 1993, as assistant director of sports. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1988 the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994, and then the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation awarded the Distinguished American Award, to Mr. Lucious Selmon and his wife. Henry Bellmon is the Oklahoma governor that made the award.
