Lucy Liu was born in the United States. She is an American singer, actress and voice actor. An attractive, clever and gifted actor, she's an inspiration to Asian actors who want to become big names in Hollywood. After a series of appearances in popular TV series her name was a household name after being cast on the Ally McBeal legal comedy where she played Ling Woo. She translated her unexpected success into big screen roles in films including Shanghai Noon and Charlie's Angels. The actress also gave an amazing performance as Japanese criminal lord O'RenIshii in Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill Volume 1. At the same time she was a leading lady in flops of the box office like Rise: Blood Hunter were also prominent. In the following years, she started voicing characters from animated films like Kung Fu Panda or Tinker Bell. Mia Mason from Cashmere Mafia was an unimportant role which failed to have any impact. Southland's critically acclaimed police series, Southland and a recurring role helped Liu re-establish the status of an established actress. Liu chooses her roles carefully so as to avoid being cast in an industry that is competitive. Liu has accepted her Chinese roots however she has not let them restrict her creativity.
